On Monday, the 26th, we went into the office because there wasn't too much to do at home. We got a lot of things done because people weren't coming in and bothering us. Tuesday was also a holiday. President Mahama declared it so. He will be leaving office on the 9th of January. I think a lot of the people are very glad.
Just have to show you what we were eating on December 26th. |Yep it's watermelon. I think it grows here all year round. It sure tasted good.

Since the president has to have 10 zone conferences and interview all 200 missionaries every 6 weeks, he got started on Tuesday. He had the Cape Coast and Elmina Zones come to the mission home. When he brings missionaries here, they all come in and want to buy things. My distribution room is almost empty of everything. My order to Accra for restocking was GHS 2,200. The most I have had to order in the past 6 months.
It has been horrible outside. The dust and sand is everywhere. Even in our home. I have to wipe all the counters in the kitchen morning, noon, and night. This is what the sun and sky looks like. And it is very hot.
This is the sun in the morning
We wanted to get a picture of what the Elders make to exercise with. This is the AP's barbells. Cement!
The elders make these themselves. Plus the benches. Doesn't look too safe to me.
Many of the men that live up our road have been trying to fill in all of the ruts before the raining season starts.
And this is what it looks like. Bags of little rocks and dirt from the side of the road. Our tires just sort of spun when we went up the hill. But we made it. They are trying.
We went for a little walk on Sunday. This house has been like this for 2 months now. Hopefully they get it done before we leave. I want to see what it will look like.
This is a lilac tree, with one of the little storks by it. Flowers all year round, even in the dead of winter.
The supply elders are teaching a "golden" family. They attended church with us on Sunday. They speak English very well and everyone made them fill welcome. Hope to see a baptismal date for them this month. And it's a family!!!!
During Sacrament meeting, the Bishop called on people in the congregation to bear their testimonies. Of course he called on Wayne and I. We both talked to them about friendship and being good examples every day of our lives. That's what people see and feel. That's what makes them want to know more about us - Mormons! Hopefully they understood.
All of the wards and branches in Ghana just held Sacrament meeting again. In fact, one ward in Takoradi got everyone together. Had an opening song and prayer. Gave what few announcements there were, sang the sacrament song, passed the sacrament, had a closing prayer and everyone went home. Communication lacks something here. When told to just have sacrament, they took it literally.
Anyway, that's our week.
We love you and miss you all.
